In total, Endeavour plans to shed 120 positions in the first round of job cuts and has indicated that another 135 positions may go in a second round of cuts.

Endeavour said 41 of the 120 positions will come through voluntary redundancy but has not indicated which depots the voluntary redundancies are coming from.

The Illawarra is one of a number of regions in Endeavour’s coverage area, which also includes Sydney’s south and west, the South Coast, Southern Highlands, Blue Mountains, and parts of the Central West.

The cuts follow similar reductions at NSW’s other networks Ausgrid and Essential Energy. The cuts are the companies’ response to the Australian Energy Regulator’s decision to cut their budgets by millions of dollars.

The second phase of up to 135 redundant positions will be considered when the outcome of Endeavour Energy appeal against the AER’s cuts to operating expenditure is known.
