Lakers’ big man cops two matches

GUILTY PLEA: Lake Wendouree’s Tanner Robertson received a two-week ban for hitting North Ballarat City’s Ben Hurley in the head with a straw elbow.

Hurley suffered concussion from the stray elbow in the semi final match on Sunday, playing no part in the match after half time.

Robertson was sent straight the AFL Goldfields Region Independent tribunal on Wednesday night without the option of a set penalty, pleading guilty for striking.

He will miss the first two games of the 2016 season as a result of the hit.It was the third suspension to arise from the fiery encounter.

Lakers teammate Isaac Kirby had previously accepted a one-match set penalty for pushing North City’s Shaun Lyle over the fence during the third quarter.

Most importantly, however, North City’s Jarryd Graham will miss his side’s preliminary final after he accepted a one-match suspension for punching Lakers key defender Tom Carey in the stomach.
