The service needs about 1000 people to donate blood before the end of the month to help curb a blood shortage.

Blood Service spokeswoman Jemma Falkenmire said giving blood only takes an hour and donors get to relax and enjoy Australia’s best biscuit and a cup of tea afterwards.‘‘After saving lives, donors can then enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while munching on Australia’s best biscuit,’’ she said.“Every blood donation helps to save three lives, including the lives of cancer patients, road trauma victims, people with blood disorders, unborn babies, and mothers during childbirth.“We believe it’s the best biscuit because it’s the only one that saves lives.’’

Liverpool Blood Donor Centre is located on Macquarie Street, in Liverpool, and open Monday to Saturday.
