Small schools, big talents

Thecombined Upper Hunter Small Schools sporting teams showed their bigger school cousins they are competitive contenders last week when they took part in a gala day in Scone.

Blandford Public School students Lachlan Teague, Quinn Cornall, Jack Teague, Brady Roser and Brock Roser with their trophy won at the Scone Grammar School Gala Day last week.

The sports gala day was hosted by Scone Grammar School at the Bill Rose Sports Complex with numerous local schools represented.

Two teams represented the local small schools in the sports of netball and rugby union.

The Upper Hunter Small Schools Junior Boys team was victorious bringing home the shield in the junior rugby union competition.

The team was made up of year five and six boys representing Murrurundi Public, Blandford Public, Belltrees Public and Ellerston Public Schools.

The boys played two games against Scone Grammar School teams.

They won the first game 2 to 1 and lost the second by the same margin, however the small schools team won overall in points.
