Swimmers eye off state glory

THE Singleton Amateur Swimming Club is excited to have two representatives competing at Sydney Olympic Park this weekend in the NSW State Open Short Course Championships.

Oliver Moody, 17, will dive into the event this evening and Saturday, contesting fivedisciplines.

He’ll tackle the 100m individual medley, 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m and 100mbreaststroke.

Thirteen-year-old Elliott Earnshaw will also appear in the 100m breaststroke.

It is his first appearance at the State Open Short Course Championships after finishingas a finalist in both the 100m and 200mbreaststroke events at State Age Championships in August.

Singleton’s girls’ relay teams, consisting of Maddison Berry, Chantelle Smuts, Brooke Ingold, Shanae Howard and Tegan Moore, also had great swims at the State Age Championships and improved their times in both the freestyle and medley.

The club is looking forward to an exciting upcoming summer season with many swimmers training hard under the expert coaching of Andreas Falkenau.

The mentor is confident more youngsters will qualify for future championship events in 2015-16.

The Singleton Amateur Swimming Clubwill restart on Friday, October 9, with newregistrations being taken from September 16.
